St Leonard's is an evangelical church.
It is one of fourteen Anglican parish churches in Exeter, Devon. This means the Church of England has given us the special responsibility for making the Christian message known to all those living within our parish.
We have close links with our local community, particularly through our church school, St Leonard's Primary School, our church preschool (in the Church Hall on Roberts Road), and through our many members who live in the parish. We also welcome many from other parts

Surgery Strollers

"Surgery Strollers” now provides an all year round walking group for

patients, currently of Barnfield Hill, St Leonard’s and Southernhay

House surgeries, but we are happy to welcome people from

others. With the assistance of popular buses operating from High

Street/Heavitree Road it also offers an increasingly varied range of

relatively easy walks to help participants increase their fitness as

well as enjoy opportunities to socialise.

In addition to Cathedral Green, Northernhay Gardens (taking in the

re-opened Museum and Art Gallery), County Hall and Belmont Park,

buses assist with walks around the Quay, the environs of the

University (including the Bill Douglas Centre of Film History),

Topsham and Exmouth. If you are interested please let receptionists

at your surgery know or contact Penny Scoynes of Westbank Health

and Care on 01392 824752.

All Surgery Strollers walks start from the St Leonard’s Practice,

Athelstan Road, at 10.30am on Tuesdays but also link with High

Street/Heavitree Road buses for specific walks. Walks usually last

between forty five minutes and an hour and a quarter (not including

time on buses) and a little longer when ending with an optional

coffee/tea/hot chocolate stop. We are also able to introduce those

interested to the more active Stepping Out programme of "Walks in

Exeter" arranged by Westbank.

Surgery Strollers’ city walks, and further afield, go out each Tuesday at 10.30am, meeting at the St Leonard’s Practice in Athelstan Road (new walkers should aim to join us there by 10.20 am). We often walk to the High Street or Heavitree Road for buses for walks outside the city centre.

We still go to Cathedral Green, the Quay, Northernhay Gardens (and the Museum/Art Gallery), County Hall (return via Waitrose), Belmont Pleasure Gardens, Mount Dinham, the University (including the Bill Douglas Centre of Film History) and Topsham. Each walk provides for an optional coffee, tea or hot chocolate stop!

We encourage those interested in more energetic walks to also join one or more of the Stepping Out Exeter Walks arranged by Westbank Health & Care.

Strollers always look forward to meeting new walkers, so please join us.
